Since the start of her work as an artist VALIE EXPORT had built a substantial archive, which was bought for the collection of Lentos Art Museum Linz by the City of Linz in 2015 and is now made available to science at VALIE EXPORT Center Linz. The Center holds materials such as notes, sketches, concepts, correspondences, drafts, but also screenplays and preparatory studies dating back to the year 1967. The Center is also in possession of VALIE EXPORT’s library containing a great number of important books on media theory, film and art sciences, feminism, philosophy, and literature.
The mission of VALIE EXPORT Center Linz is to study and reappraise as well as to mediate and contextualise the renowned artist’s premature legacy. International in its focus, this Research Centre for Media and Performance Arts also strives to promote the artistic and scientific examination of these very areas.
The VALIE EXPORT Center Linz is a cooperation of the City of Linz with LENTOS Art Museum and the University of Arts Linz.
